Update to the MERINOSELECT and Dohne Analyses

Update to the Analysis for August 21st MERINOSELECT and Dohne Analyses

Dear Valued Sheep Genetics Client,

RE: Update to the Analysis for August 21st MERINOSELECT and Dohne Analyses

During the past week it was identified that there is an update that is required for the MERINOSELECT and DOHNE analyses. This update is related to the implementation of the 2023 Analysis Enhancements in May. Whilst all due care is taken with the updates made to the evaluation, the system is large and complex, and issues may arise. We aim to consolidate enhancements to one run during the year to not impact critical periods of selection such as ram sales and mating. However, in this instance it is important that the update is implemented to the evaluation. This will be applied to the 21st of August 2023 MERINOSELECT and DOHNE evaluations.

Whilst correlations of ASBVs between runs will remain high there will be some movement of individual animals. The traits that are most impacted include: Weight Traits (AWT in particular), FAT, FD, CFW and GFW.

Flocks that are most impacted by the update will be contacted directly by Sheep Genetics once the analysis is complete. All flocks are recommended to download the latest results from the website once the analysis is complete. This ensures that the most up to date information is being used. Checking the updated percentile band table is also important. For those with sales approaching we recommend uploading your catalogue to the Sheep Genetics website so when the run is published these will be updated immediately.
