Understanding Percentile Bands for selection decisions

Percentile bands are used within Sheep Genetics to easily and quickly benchmark where an individual animal is sitting for a trait within industry. Percentile bands are updated with the run results every 2 weeks for the analyses. On the search site animals in the 5, 10 and 20% for that analyses and traits are highlighted in purple, blue and green based on the percentiles.   

Percentile bands can be found on the Sheep Genetics search site and modified to show the traits of interest for you. When looking at percentile bands and comparing them to an animal’s ASBV it is important to check the analyses run dates and make sure they match. Percentile bands can also be downloaded.
